Born from a newsroom gap
ReportBeatX was born when our founders — a group of senior journalists across ABC News, The Australian, and The Sydney Morning Herald — noticed a consistent problem: talented reporters were being assigned to complex beats without adequate preparation for developing sources or sustaining deep coverage.
We built ReportBeatX to close that gap. Our curriculum draws on decades of frontline reporting experience across politics, courts, health, environment, business, and local government — the beats that shape public understanding of Australian life.
